Under Louis XV, haberdashery merchants (interior decorators of the time), like the famous Charles-Raymond Granchez, were much appreciated by the court; they launch the fashions and deliver to the royal manufacture of Sèvres the indications of the taste of the moment to follow. This cup, painted by Boulanger father, is a perfect example: particularly inventive by the regularity of this grid which completely covers the cup and the saucer with its decoration of soft green leaves and interlacing of gold leaves, it is for Louis XV's era of great modernity.
Identical reissue of a cup from the Manufacture de Sèvres, 1771-1772.
