Identical edition of a so-called litron cup made in 1769 by the Sèvres factory. This singular decoration recalls the famous bird boards of the naturalist Buffon, which stand out here against a background representing a stylized motif of peacock feather. We find on this cup the shimmering colors very appreciated at the time of Louis XV; celestial blue and carmine red. Whether it is the “red-cheeked parakeet” or the “American Blue Gay”, they are the work of Chappuis. The delicacy of its colors and the delicacy of the landscapes are the hallmarks of this talented animal painter from the Sèvres factory.
The golds of the cartridges are engraved in an unprecedented way in a geometry of extremely fine crosses and signed by the famous gilder of the manufacture, Etienne Henry le Guay. It was originally many royal porcelain pieces.
