In 1783, Louis XVI commissioned the Manufacture Royale de Sèvres to provide a service for the Palace of Versailles, adorned with barbs: the Goblet of Roy. This one is intended for the officers of the Goblet, one of the seven official bodies serving the king's table and the royal family. The Goblet officers are responsible for two missions. On the one hand, they set the table and ensure the supply of bread, salt, linen and fruit. On the other hand, they provide for the supply of drinks (water, wines, liqueurs, coffee), ice cream and refreshments. Celebrating the new taste for nature at the time, the decor of this service intertwines barbs and myrtles around a rose painted "naturally", represented differently in the center of each plate.
